Skyrim’s game director, Todd Howard, recently revealed that DLC for Skyrim is definitely on the cards, and not only that – when it comes it’ll be BIG:
“We would like to do DLC; we don’t have any specific plans yet, but they’ve been really successful and we like making them. So right now I can say that we’d like to do less DLC but bigger ones — you know, more substantial.”
“The Fallout 3 pace that we did was very chaotic. We did a lot of them — we had two overlapping groups — and we don’t know what we’re going to make yet, but we’d like them to be closer to an expansion pack feel“ – Todd Howard
With Skyrim set on being an expansive game to begin with makes the prospect of even MORE content in the form of DLC, well, staggering. As for the whole ‘more substantial’ bit, there is both good and bad. The good thing is that it should mean better value for money with more content per purchase.
It’s also nice to hear the term “expansion pack” which seems to be getting phased out. It takes me back to playing COD: United Offensive against my next-door neighbour on his LAN. Happy days.
Anyway, back to Skyrim! The only downside for me would be that bigger means longer download times. Especially since I live in the middle of rural Wales where the download rate struggles to get over 1mb/s. I realise that for most of you that isn’t going to be a problem. As for me? It’ll be worth it if it means more quests, items and of course… HORSE ARMOUR!
